To understand my training philosophy, I wanted to provide a little background. I have been involved in retail sales and customer service since I was in High School. I’ve held several sales and management positions which ensures I teach what works and with a theater background, another dimension to any training I do. I believe every training, whether live or on video, is a performance. I want my audience to be entertained while they are learning. The more engaged they are, the more likely they will remember what is being taught. I am not an Academic with a wall of degrees. I am someone who has been there and can connect with people in a sincere and fun way.
I admit, this style is not everyone’s taste. Some have said it’s more like a rock concert than a training seminar. I have a simple question to those who think like that. What would most people rather attend? What they think is criticism, really is validation. The two biggest compliments I get after a live training session or video I’ve produced are:
“I can’t believe you are not a company employee. You know our company so well.”

“I’ve never seen or participated in anything like this. I need to get all my people seeing this. It wasn’t at all what I thought it was going to be.
Feedback like that is always great to hear, but where the rubber meets the road is…results. With service contract training for example, the trackable data showed that in almost every case, the performance of the market being trained improved. To the point that after about two weeks the market was able to re-coup their training expenses. For me, success is not based on two weeks after training but thirty, sixty and ninety days. That’s when you know what was taught hit the mark.
